How do you know when the cavity is full?
The bead is injected at the top of the cavity under high pressure. Through gravity and this pressure the bead naturally flows to the bottom of the cavity and continues to fill upwards. The beads will continue to fill any available space. When the cavity is full pressure builds internally and back pressure automatically stops the injection gun. (Just like when you’re filling petrol)
How many holes do you drill?
If you look at Cavity Wall Insulation (Figure1), it shows the number of holes in a 2 storey house. For existing dwellings, the holes are filled with cement mixed carefully with coloured sand to match as closely as possible to the existing mortar, which soon becomes indistinguishable from the original. For new buildings these small holes will be covered completely covered by plasterwork leaving no trace of work done.
At what stage should Certainfil Bonded Bead be installed?
In a new house, Certainfil Bonded Bead should be installed after doors and windows are fitted and the roof complete. In existing houses built pre-1980 with cavity walls, it should be installed immediately.
